PLAYING CATCH-UP

Holy cow it's been awhile! I really want to keep up with my blog, but as I get further into my 3rd trimester, life just gets more & more crazy. And any waking moment we're not super busy, I'm falling asleep in my bowl of cereal (Lucky Charms to be exact). However, I REFUSE to give up on my blog just yet, so here is a super shortened preview of what us Wilson's have been up to the past month!

We went to a wedding where we got to watch one of our best friends marry the girl of his dreams. Friends, dancing & Taco Bell...I felt like I was 21 again! (Okay, not really...I was ready to go to sleep by 10pm, but I powered through!)

We celebrated the 4th of July with some sparklers, neighbor friends & red and blue sherbet (YUM!).

Gavin got sick with some sort of virus where his only symptom was a high fever for 4 days. Lots of rest & snuggles from this one!

Baby Finn is growing like crazy & constantly trying to kick his way out. Only 6-7(ish) more weeks to go!

Southern Indiana has been relocated to the Amazon Rainforest & for a month straight it seems like all it has done is rain & storm. Good thing I like storms!

Gavin has become very aware of my ever-growing baby belly and likes to pat it and say "eeeeeeeeeasy!" ....and in case you couldn't guess, he learned that from the stupid amount of times he would come over and wham right on his baby brother. ;)

Dustin & I had a much needed date night to Louisville's Homearama...where we saw all kinds of homes that were SO beautiful, but we could never afford. It was a little too much walking in the humid heat for this preggo & my feet & hands were swollen sausages afterwards. Pregnant in the summer is definitely a new experience for me!

We tried yet again to cut out Gavin's morning nap, but then he tries to climb in by himself and asks to go 'nigh-nigh' and I just can't say no.

There has been a LOT of this the past week or so. He is cutting FOUR molars and TWO baby teeth. DEAR LORD make the teeth stop! If you look closely, you can see molar #3 making it's wonderful debut. And the molar on the other side had a lovely teething blood blister...fun times, I tell ya.

I started the fun task of organizing boy clothes! It took me about a week, but I have Finn's closet & dresser full, the older boys' clothes are all sorted, the totes are organized by season and the rest is in piles ready to be sold in next month's consignment sale. If this organization doesn't make a nesting preggo happy, I don't know what will!

And then.....THIS happened. I didn't want to do it, but his hair was getting so gross & sweaty because of the summer heat, I decided the curls needed to go. Insert sad, hormonal, crying face.

Before & after!
And no, his hair didn't change colors with the new haircut, this just shows how different his hair looks in different types of lighting. He is still just as ginger as ever. ;)

We've been swimming with Mimi & eaten watermelons with Papa Joe...

And everyone's favorite...Jeep rides for ice cream!

The diaper bag is all ready for baby, which just leaves a handful of things left on the "THINGS TO DO BEFORE BABY" list.

And last but certainly not least, I've tried to catch up on as much snuggles with the boys as I can. The laundry, floor mopping & gross toilets aren't going anywhere, but one-on-one time with each boy is most definitely numbered!

So there's your brief catch-up! I'm really going to try to do better with the blogging, but these tiny humans like to keep me nice & busy!

And lastly, any prayers or well-wishes you have for me the next couple days will be greatly welcomed! We are leaving the boys behind for a long weekend in Texas to visit our friends. FIRST...I am so anxious about leaving Gavin. I know he'll be in good hands, but he isn't exactly the easiest baby on the block, plus it breaks my heart that he might miss us or wonder where we are.

SECOND...I have a major phobia of flying. MAJOR. The doctor usually has me on a pretty strong anxiety medication during my flights, but obviously being pregnant, she could only prescribe me a lower dose medicine, but I still hate the thought of putting something in my body that could possibly affect Finn, too. However, having a full blown anxiety attack while 34 weeks pregnant probably isn't good for the baby either.

Regardless, everything will be OKAY, the boys will have a blast with their grandmas & Dustin and I will get a much needed vacation before numero 3 arrives. At least this is what I keep telling myself....

Thanks for reading & Happy Tuesday!

FINN'S NURSERY

Aside from filling the drawers and closet with tiny clothes, shoes & other necessities, Finn's room is finished! Gavin is still sleeping in here, and probably will be for the next 5-6 months, but good thing he doesn't care that is says Finnick instead of Gavin. ;) So I'll just dive right in with pictures of the finished product!

Trying to decide on paint colors...

Since this used to be Christian's room, it was A MESS! Toddlers are so destructive!!

Room prep & starting to paint.

And all finished!

The paint color is called Silver Drop by Behr.
The ginger refused to stay out of the room during pictures, but that's okay-he's cute, so I let him stay.

The 'W' pillow is handmade by a friend & her Etsy shop is called The Peachy Seam.
I found the owl Pillow at Home Goods & I made the star pillow.

The shelves are from Target, where else?! ;)

I made the mobile with an embroidery hoop, fishing lines & pom-poms, all found at JoAnn's.

So please ignore the blue area on the front of the dresser...it's where my denim jeans have worn off on the paint from diaper changes & I'm too lazy to repaint it right now. Maybe one day. ;)

The 'Finnick' wooden sign is from another Etsy shop called A Charmed Nest.

He was such a great helper. ;)

The tiered wire basket I found at Home Goods (in the kitchen section!) & I am obsessed with how much storage it gives me! So perfect for a nursery.

Gavin was mad because I kept picking up the toys as he would throw them all over the room. I was SO cramping his style.

The wooden 'baby' sign is from Hello Apparel.

The closet is ready to be filled with adorable baby stuff!

Of course I had to have somewhere to hang my Solly Baby wrap & Tula carrier! I can't wait to break these out again.

And the final finishing touch to the room was new drawer pulls. I found the stars at Hobby Lobby and painted them black. The owls are also from Hobby Lobby & the teal pulls are from Home Goods.

And here's a little no make-up, exhausted "I worked my butt off but it's finally finished" selfie.

And that's it! I can't believe were in the final countdown to baby #3. 10 weeks to go (approximately, of course!)!

BABY #3 ESSENTIALS

As we are getting ready to start the final countdown, (10 or so weeks left!) I thought I would do an essentials of what we need for baby #3! With Finn being the 3rd boy, we won't need much, but there are some things that just could NOT be used again because either A) I never splurged and got it in the first place or B) the previous boys have destroyed them!

There are 10 essential items here that we are going to need (okay...maybe more like want on some, but in my mind...need).

1. Aden + Anais muslin swaddle blankets. These are amazing...especially for a summer baby! Gavin only has one, mainly because I could never cough up the money to buy more (they aren't cheap!) and I now realize I need more. They are super light, so you don't have to worry about baby overheating, they travel well & they're super adorable. They are definitely worth every penny!

2. Fisher-Price Newborn Auto Rock-n-Play. Okay, so this was a game changer for us. The rock-n-play is absolutely a must-have in my opinion, and now it has an auto rock function. Sign me up! Our current one was bought used and it doesn't have a seat belt...sure, a newborn might not go far, but as soon as they can figure out how to roll over, you better believe he will need to be strapped in. That means it's time for an upgrade...oh, darn! ;)

3. Graco Ready2Dine High Chair. So we don't necessarily need a new high chair, but ours is pretty much on it's last leg. It was also bought used and has now been through 2 messy boys. Gavin has ripped the elastic straps off, so it's currently tied together with string. And upgrade wouldn't hurt. I thought this was nice because it actually collapses into a portable booster seat. I'm all about multi-functional!

4. Breastfeeding Supplies. Storage bags, nursing pads & soothies...I will pretty much need infinite of these.

5. Maxi Cosi Mico AP Infant Carrier. Our current carrier expires this year, so obviously we are due for a new one. After testing out a few and reading safety & customer reviews, I decided to go with the Maxi Cosi. I love the all black look & it was the most lightweight carrier out of all the ones I tested in the store. Hopefully I will end up liking it, but if anyone has any negative feedback on this particular seat, feel free to share!

6. Baby Jogger City Select car seat adapter. This is so the infant carrier we purchase can attach to our new City Select stroller.

7. Baby Milestone Cards. Obviously I don't need these, but they are stinking adorable and I want to be able to take cute little milestone photos with them.

8. Angelcare Infant Bath Seat. We currently have a baby bath, but it's quite large. My thought behind this one is to be able to bathe all three boys in the tub at the same time. We'll see how well that goes over though...

9. Burp Cloths & Swaddle Blankets. You can never have enough burp cloths & swaddles, and these come in the softest fabric with the cutest patterns. Plus, I'm supporting a local mommy friend, Obsessed Momma!

10. Mushybooks Baby Book. And last but not least, I obviously need a baby book for Finn...I mean, I've filled one out for the other two, I can't leave the baby out! ;) This is by far the cutest baby book I've ever seen...the dreamcatcher version is SO my style! Very modern, neutral colors & all the pages I need to remember the precious newborn months.

And that's it! Aside from an unlimited supply of diapers & wipes, we will be all ready for our newest edition. I'm thinking 10 items, 10 weeks...we'll get an item a week and call it done! ;)
The nursery decor is complete (blog coming soon!), so the next step is to start going through baby clothes & filling up his closet & dresser. I might have to grab the tissues though...going through old totes always brings out my hormonal side. :)

Thanks for reading!

FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND & MORE

Happy Monday! I'm so excited to look out my window and see blue skies as opposed to rain & clouds. I feel like that's all it's been doing here in southern Indiana lately. However, I do believe it's supposed to a hot one this week, so time to break out the baby pool, sprinkler & slip-n-slide!

While the wild one is napping (thank goodness for morning naps!) & the first born is coloring, I thought I would catch everyone up on what's been going on around here. This past week was super busy...a family reunion, a 2nd birthday party, Christian's summer camp, my step-dad's birthday, we celebrated our 5 year anniversary, my 10 year high school reunion AND ended it with a day full of Father's Day fun. Sprinkle in two wild & crazy boys, a hormonal-third trimester preggo, doctor's appointments & one working late hubby and you get a week of EXHAUSTION!

Needless to say, I am SO excited about the fact that we literally have NOTHING on the agenda until the weekend. I'm going to catch up on housework, Netflix, outside fun & maybe even finish the nursery (HA! I've been saying that for weeks now...)!

Our week started off with miss Scarlett's 2nd birthday party...the boys had a blast playing with their friends & chowing down on delicious cupcakes. And Gavin may or may not have thrown a red-headed-sized temper tantrum when we wouldn't give him a second cupcake. Worst parents ever, I know.

Also pictured, dancing in the sprinkler, and attempting to hang onto a one-year-old that thinks he can swim & has ZERO fear of the water (or anything for that matter). Yet please note in the background, the timid first-born that's scared of the water and took major coaxing to let go of the side of the pool. Could these boys be any different?!

Silly faces, snack time & rare brother snuggles during morning cartoons...

Making Papaw's birthday card went a little something like this:
"Papaw has looooooong legs, a big circle head and he's SOOOOOO happy to see me. Oh, and he has birthday hair."
And Gavin didn't care about Papaw's birthday, he wanted to rip the feathers out of Mimi's baby chicks.

We have also implemented snuggle sessions to our day. Gavin will come up to me with his paci, "baby" & blankie and point to the rocking chair. Okay, twist my arm. ;)

On Thursday, Gavin had his 15-month check-up. He weighed in at 24 pounds (67th %ile), 31.5 inches tall (61st %ile) and his big ole noggin was in the 87th %ile. She said he appeared to be very advanced for his age & was impressed with how many words he can say...that's right, he might be the moodiest, craziest red-head ever, but he's a smart one! He then tried to escape before his vaccines...nice try, buddy!

Oh, and he's also started an obsession with sleeping with every stuffed animal he can find...he calls them his "babies" and it's the cutest thing ever.

I ordered another comfy maternity dress from Old Navy (along with some goodies for the guys...how could I resist?!) & then showed off my 29 week bump in all it's glory. I had my glucose test and a check-up with the nurse practitioner...no gestational diabetes for me, but I am anemic again (no surprise there, I usually am). I have gained 15 pounds, I'm measuring about 2 weeks ahead of schedule (also normal, I make large babies) & she marked me down as attempting to go natural in my file. Lord, give me strength!!! It's not that I have anything against pain meds, but with both deliveries I've had epidural issues, so I'm going to see if my body can hold out without it this time. Not likely, but we'll see!

On Friday, Dustin and I celebrated 5 years of marriage with steak, mashed potatoes & truffle mac-n-cheese at our favorite restaurant...Eddie Merlot's! Oh, and I also got these cuties. ;)

On Saturday, I decided to finally finish painting the closet doors in the nursery. The difference between bright white and antique white is unreal!

I also hung 3 things on the walls! I'm getting there, one slow step at a time!

Saturday night was the high school reunion...I cannot believe it's been 10 years!

And Sunday we celebrated with presents, homemade McGriddles, lunch with my step-dad & dinner with my dad's side of the family.

The kiddos had a blast eating Arni's pizza & playing with their cousins!

And that's it for the recap! I'm looking forward to a relaxing week ahead & then it's the wedding of one of our best friend's this weekend. We are also starting to plan our PARENT'S ONLY trip to Texas next month to visit some friends...it will be a nice little 'babymoon' before we officially become a family of five!

Hope everyone enjoys their week & thanks for reading!
