Happy 6 Months, Gavin Lee!

So although Mr. Gavin actually turned 6 months old on Sunday (the 14th), his check-up wasn't until today, so I'm a little late on the posting. But anywho-happy 6 months to our littlest! I know it's cliche, but I simply CANNOT believe it's been 6 months since our little man entered the world. He is such a miracle and has been the biggest blessing to our family. Plus he's pretty cute, I might add. ;) Here is how our tiny is doing.

WEIGHT: Gavin weighed in at 16lbs, 15.5oz. He is in the 33rd %ile. I strongly believe half of that weight in his thighs & cheeks. He is shorter & fatter than big brother was at 6 months...he takes after his momma. ;)

HEIGHT: He measured 27.25 inches tall, which is the 73rd %ile.

HEAD: His big ole' noggin was 18 inches around, which is the 93rd %ile.

MILESTONES: We are allllmost sitting up. He can sit up for about 15 seconds by himself before he plops to the front or the side. He is our little roly poly and can army crawl his way around a room like a champ. He's starting to bring his knees under him; I'm thinking 7 months will be his crawling age.

TEETH: Chomper has his two bottom teeth, and is teething currently. I don't see any swollen gums, but the drooling and whining and chewing have started again at full force.

FAVORITES: His LOVES big brother. He loves when I sing to him...actually, if you ever want to get a smile out of him, just break out "Bright Lights, Big City" by Cee Lo Green and for some reason he lights up. I don't get it, but he loves it. He won't sleep without his stuffed animal, which I guess will also be called a "coo-coo" just like big brother.

SLEEP: As much as I wish I could report that he sleeps like a champ, he doesn't. He's not awful, but he's not a good as Christian was/is. He still wakes 1-2 times a night and expects to be nursed. Oh sleep deprivation, you sure are fun! He takes a short morning nap and a you-never-know-how-long afternoon nap. Sometimes it's 30 minutes, sometimes it's 2 hours.

EATING: Dude does not have a problem in this category. He eats cereal & fruit in the morning, nurses before naptime, nurses after naptime, veggies for lunch, nurses again before naptime, nurses after naptime, eats fruit for dinner and nurses before bed. Like I said, no problem in the eating department.

Gavin is such a happy little dude, unless he's teething. He is a rough teether...not that teething is easy for any baby, but good GRIEF this kid is a mess. He doesn't like being snuggled...insert sad mom face. When he's tired or not feeling good, he just wants to be left alone. There is no such thing as rocking him to sleep...unless you're daddy. Insert annoyed wife face. He loves being held. He loves his bouncer. He loves the dog and cat. He's starting to develop the funniest personality and oh, did I mention he's adorable? Happy 6 months (and 4 days) on this earth, kiddo. You're the best!

XOXO

The most depressing day in history...

For real, ya'll. Utterly depressing. But before I get to why...here's a little recap of our weekend/week.

On Friday, we slept.

On Saturday, Christian "doctored" me right up. I was diagnosed with "sick-a-tosis"...aka a respiratory infection.

On Sunday, we turned 6 MONTHS OLD! (Say WHAT?!) His 6 month check-up is tomorrow & I will post an update on baby G after that.

Also on Sunday, we went to the Lanesville Heritage Festival.

The boys looked too cute in their fall clothes, so a photo session was in order. The outtakes were too funny not to share...and also proof that these boys don't always take good pictures...

But we did end up with these good ones!

On Monday, we added fruits to the baby menu. Success.

On Tuesday, we discovered that his legs are TOO FAT for his baby leggings. I was really hoping to get good use out of these during crawling, but this boy has some thighs!!

Also on Tuesday, I bought a desk for our living room so I could pay the bills, do my blogs, upload my photos, etc. without having to go downstairs.

It's already so much more convenient...and even the husband approves!

On Wednesday (today), we had matching pj's...

...decided the blankets didn't belong on the shelf...

...and tried to cheer mommy up by giving the super cute face because...

...the reason for the most depressing day in history...

I have to throw ALL OF THIS MILK AWAY. Yes, you read that correctly.

All of this milk in which I've spent the last 6 months building up a supply, has to be thrown out. A couple weeks ago, Christian left the freezer open for an unknown amount of hours. I thought the milk was okay because it didn't appear that it had started thawing. Apparently I was wrong. Dustin tried to make a bottle today and it was very spoiled. I then opened multiple bags with different dates to check, and yep. You guessed it. All spoiled. Pumping milk is not fun. Pumping milk is not comfortable. It is not easy. It is not in ANY way attractive. No mom LIKES pumping milk. So good thing I've spent the last 6 months pumping milk for NO GOOD REASON. I might need therapy. Or wine.

The fate of our first born has yet to be determined.

And also, my favorite beast-mode Cowboy got evicted out of the Big Brother house tonight. Jerks.

Excuse me while I cry into my pillow tonight.

Thanks for reading! We have spent all day doing fall projects & decorating. Hopefully I'll post a fun fall blog soon...with no more crying over spilt milk. Until next time!
