Labor Day Weekend

Happy Labor Day ya'll! We started our weekend off with a tooth! Once the tooth finally broke through, we got a couple days of happy Gavin before tooth #2 started making it's way through.

Friday night, we had our friend/hairdresser stop by the house to give us all haircuts/color. Christian got to play with his BFF Weston and I'm finally rid of those awful roots! #blondelife. I also made a super yummy penne pasta casserole...it will definitely be on the menu this week, too. Super easy, cheesy & yummy! Then we went to bed super early because apparently we're 90. Yeah, Friday nights!

Gavin fell asleep on daddy while I was getting my hair done. Jealous!

Saturday morning was a lazy donut morning...Gavin had the right idea!

Then we spent the rest of the day fixing our landscaping. We have been meaning to do this allllll summer, but it's like we a have a toddler and a new baby or something! We pulled a bazillion weeds, got tons of scratches from our evergreen tree & bushes, and got chased by a colony of hornets. That was fun! But our landscaping looks A-MAZING, if I do say so myself. Hopefully it will stay looking good for at least a couple of weeks. ;)

Before & after...kind of. I forgot to take a picture before we pulled all of the weeds. Just pretend like there are a ridiculous amount of weeds covering 90% of the 'before' landscaping.

Of course, Christian had to take a break from bike riding to help us out. He even has a mini wheelbarrow and gwums! (That's gloves in Christian language)

And here comes the fun part of our story...we have had ground hornets building a home in our retaining wall all summer. Christian hasn't been able to play on his playground and picking tomatoes has been terrifying. About a month ago, Dustin sprayed an entire can of hornet killer in the cracks and we *thought* we killed them all. We also had to borrow this trailer for mulch, so we HAD to get his playground mulched this weekend, or it wasn't going to happen at all. So, just in case, Dustin sprayed some killer in the cracks to make sure there were no more, and OH ****! Run for your dear life, they are coming from EVERYWHERE. However, Dustin was determined to get it mulched. So he gave them an hour or so to go back in their wall, and then he braved it. I stayed in the safety of the house, so he did the entire playground by himself. Without getting stung. Go husband. And yes, first thing tomorrow, we will be calling in the professionals. Be gone evil hornets! Christian wants to play! I still managed to get a pretty awesome before & after picture!

Saturday night was Gavin's first night in a high chair! What? How is he so BIG?!?

Sunday was our Labor Day party. About a month ago, we planned a super awesome Slippy Cup party (Seen here). I saw it on Facebook and immediately knew we needed to try it out. Unfortunately, we couldn't get enough people to come, so we just went with a good ole' fashioned slip-n-slide party. It was SO.MUCH.FUN. We bought a 20'x100' plastic sheet, a gallon of dish soap & hooked up the sprinkler. Seriously, a blast. Everyone had so much fun, from the 2-year-old to the 28-year-olds.

Okay, so we might all be a little sore and have some awesome battle wounds, but it was so worth it. We will definitely be doing this again! We also had some staple holiday weekend foods: pasta salad, hot dogs, taco dip & lots o' beer for the boys. Beer is a food, right? ;)

Mimi (my mom) came over to help out with the baby while I got to act like a kid-free adult for an hour! But of course, she always has to have a cuddle with her first grand-baby.

We finished the night by putting all the kiddos to bed & playing Mario Kart drinking games. Morgan & I chugged water, while the boys had their beer.

The rules? You must finish your drink by the end of the race. The catch? No drinking & driving. You have to stop your car when you drink. There's still a debate as to whether beer or water is harder to chug.

Toby even joined in on the fun!

Today is a total and complete LAZY catch-up day. Laundry, cleaning up. movies & lounging are all on the agenda. Oh, and apparently cat torturing. ;)

Hope everyone had a FUN and SAFE Labor Day weekend! Also, Happy September! It's officially time to decorate for fall right?!

Thanks for reading!
